Welcome to Wet Boots, Worn Packs, and Other Wonderful Things.
I assume the type of person that comes across a website with such a title is familiar with the very things that are of its namesake (or perhaps hopes to be). The process we go through to find the satisfaction we gather from nature is unique. We endure hardship, discomfort, and at times, we may have more on the line than we realize. But in those experiences, we find a certain peace. Through being outdoors, we learn about the world around us and our role in it.
It’s an instinctive force that drives us forward, bringing us to the wonders that we find in the wild and in ourselves. As George W. Sears once said, “We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home, in towns and cities.”
On this page you’ll find useful tips, accounts from my time outdoors, some projects to try your hand at, and reviews of gear that may help you throughout your adventures. My goal is to provide you with the knowledge and inspiration you need to get out there yourself and get your boots wet.
